Listening for God through Hebrews
Listening for God through Hebrews
Lectio Divina, Latin for divine reading, is a series of Bible studies that calls Christians to slow down, read Scripture, meditate on it, and prayerfully respond as they "listen to God" through his Word.
The content of Hebrews leads us to infer that the unnamed writer was addressing Jewish followers of Christ who were so tossed about by the persecution from Jews and Romans that they were tempted to return to the familiarity of Old Testament law and thus renounce the name of Jesus.
This rich letter shows how our Savior is working on our behalf today from his position at the right hand of God's throne. Its challenge to believers now, as then, is to focus on Jesus, stand firm in difficult days, and hold to the expectation of a greater day in heaven.
